Reed & Barton Hotel Silver Water Pitcher Vintage USN Fouled Anchor Emblem #3000

Description

Gorgeous vintage / antique (I believe this might be from the 1940s), detailed and LARGE Reed & Barton Silver Soldered Handled Water Pitcher / Jug (silver alloy = mixture of sterling silver and other metals to improve strength and durability, commonly used in higher end hotel serving pieces and significantly more integrity and silver content than plain silverplate).  Wonderful, brilliant shine on this heavy (nearly 3.5 lbs) piece (similar to the finish of vintage Christofle pieces), with miscellaneous light scratching and small dimples that absolutely add to its fantastic, character.

This is an old United States Navy hotel piece, with a lightly engraved "USN" below a fouled anchor emblem on one side of the center body.  A fouled anchor is an anchor shown entangled in a rope or chain- a typical United States Navy design.  Underside is nicely marked "V  Reed & Barton Silver Soldered  3000"   Everything about this Reed & Barton piece is regal- its size, design, braided rope detailing along base and top, strong curved handle, and overall presentation.  Very much presents like an antique silver trophy and would look great on display, as it's quite a statement piece.  Comes from a well-appointed, historic Newport, Rhode Island home (Newport is home to the centuries-old U.
